Conditions of Acceptance as a member of the CHBA-Lethbridge Region:

1) Builders shall provide proof of membership in a consumer protection warranty program and must be an active member of that warranty program that enrols every unit constructed.
2) For other memberships: If the company is involved in the construction and/or marketing of new residential dwellings, either directly or through owned or affiliated companies, then the company shall only be eligible for membership if the company doing the building and/or marketing fulfills the requirements of a Builder member, i.e. Membership in a consumer protection warranty program (see#1 above).

FEE STRUCTURE

CHBA membership is from November 1 to October 31 each year.   

    

November to January $610.00 + 36.60(GST) Total: $652.70*
February to April $457.50 + 27.45 (GST) Total: $489.53*
May to July $305.00 + 18.30 (GST) Total: $326.35*
August to October $152.50 + 9.15 (GST) Total: $163.18*

Your annual membership fee automatically makes you a member of our national association – Canadian Home Builders’ Association, which is based in Ottawa and the Canadian Home Builders’ Association – Alberta (CHBA – Alberta), which has its office in Edmonton.

In September 2006, members of CHBA – Alberta unanimously approved the One Voice – One Industry initiative to face the industry’s most serious challenges.  There is a separate Added Value Charge for this initiative that is over and above the membership paid at a local level.  The Added Value Charge will go towards efforts to ease the skilled labour shortage, increased effectiveness of government relations, encourage worksite safety and improve the image of the industry and association.  This charge is a mandatory condition of membership.

On January 1, 2007 all CHBA – Alberta builder members started paying the Added Value Charge of $50 per housing permit taken out in Alberta .  CHBA – Alberta is handling the monthly invoicing and builders are paying this charge to the provincial level of our association.  25% of funds are then rebated to the five local associations in Alberta , allowing our organizations to provide an increase in services to you at the local level.

In addition, almost all other members of CHBA – Alberta will pay an annual fee of $100, $200 or $300, based on the size of their organization. The only exception is members from the government sector.  Once again, CHBA – Alberta will issue the invoice, collect funds and rebate 25% to the local association where the member came from.
